TAPTA – ESPACES Souples – WIELS [18/5/2023 – 13/8/2023]
The Polish-Belgian artist Tapta set out in the 1960s to radically redefine sculpture by using textiles and other flexible materials as sculptural elements. This exhibition centres on Tapta’s attention to the tactility of her materials, the suppleness of structures, individual and collective practice, and the interaction between artwork, space and viewer. New work by Greet Billet, Hana Miletić and Richard Venlet is also presented in relation to Tapta’s historical pieces.

Belgitudes, 50 years of passionate collecting by Maurice Verbaet
Drawn from the unique collection assembled by Maurice Verbaet, the works presented in Belgitudes transport us straight into the heart of Belgium’s post-war creation. This extensive exhibition demonstrates the participation of Belgian artists – generally unfamiliar within France – in the period’s most important European and international movements, notably geometric abstraction, expressive figuration, action painting and pop art.
The collector Maurice Verbaet’s singular perspective resonates with the museum’s own mission to highlight artworks produced during the post-war period
